Trapping
Trapping is for those with enough monies to purchase the expensive trapping devices and not for the faint of heart. Traps can be purchased at the Market Shop for a hefty price though come with great rewards! Why trap? For the DNA of course! With each trap you set there is an endless possibility of what you could find the next time you check it. Traps will ensnare anything from a King Cheetah to a Dung Beetle depending on where they are set.
Now, how do you set traps? It's pretty simple! Just go into one of the ecosystems outside of the Wall, choose one that you think will yield the kind of shift you're looking for. Most of the time the ecosystems are pretty spot on with the animals that emerge from them, though there are times when somehow a Polar Bear ends up in the Plains. Once you have chosen your spot go up to the Trapping sub-board and make a post ICly about your character placing the trap. Where the trap is placed will also have an effect on what might be caught. A Tundra Wolf will not be found in the trees, if you get my drift. After you've made your post make a second post in the Staff To-Do List and fill out the form there. After that it's all a waiting game for you my friend. Oh, please note that only one trap can be set at a time, no matter how many one person may have.
Traps should be checked periodically by the trapper because no notice will go out when and if an animal should find it's way into their midst. Once an animal has been caught the trapper will have a set time period (determined by which trap they use) spanning from 24-48 hours to claim the animal DNA. If the time period passes and nothing has been claimed the animal will be lost AND the trap will either disappear or be damaged in some way.
Note: The specific DNA will not be discovered until it is claimed.
Trapping Licence
So, you find yourself with traps though no more slots for DNA- or maybe you're just a little short on cash? Save up and get yourself a Trapping Licence! Those with TL's can offer their skills to those without the monies to buy an expensive trap in exchange for a fee. With a Trapping Licence under your belt you can trap all you want, though whatever is caught goes to the person who hired you to do the work. Even if the animal you've found is your favourite in the whole wide world. -sadface- Those with TL's can place up to three traps at any given time.
Those who hire a trapper will do so at their own risk, who knows what animal the trapper might ensnare? Those with TL's make their own prices. Traps that do not yield an animal must still be paid for and be sure to put your monies toward someone you trust for if a trap goes unclaimed you will not get your monies back.
